KUALA LUMPUR: Ellyna Danial Faizal Chee cannot wait to fly off to Taiwan to pursue her dream of becoming a web designer and make new friends.
She is one of 313 recipients accepted into the Second Malaysia-Taiwan Skills Programme which is a collaboration between MCA and Taiwanese universities.
The 17-year-old will be leaving on March 17 to do a two-year multimedia design course at the Kao Fong College of Digital Content.
“Taiwan is known to be advanced in such courses so this is a chance of a lifetime for me,” said Ellyna who is fluent in Mandarin, at the pre-departure briefing for the programme at Wisma MCA yesterday.
It is a dream come true for Ellyna Danial Faizal Chee, 17, who is among 313 students accepted into the Second Malaysia- Taiwan Skills programme. She could hardly hide her excitement when sharing her joy with mother Fauziah Yusof Ali, 48. Ellyna will leave for Taiwan on March 17 for a two-year multimedia design course at the Kao Fong College of Digital Content.
Her mother and businesswoman, Fauziah Yusof Ali, 48, described the opportunity to study abroad as “a great stepping stone”.
Despite holding a marketing and international trade degree, Lau Joo Hau, 24, said he wants to go to Taiwan to pursue aquaculture, a new course offered to this batch.
“My uncle owns a farm which supplies pork, chicken and fish. Instead of hiring consultants on fish breeding, he thought it would be good for a family member to learn the necessary skills,” he said.
Another recipient Lee Ming Shen, 20, said he was glad to be given a spot to pursue computer and handphone applications design.
Lee, who was in a sports school since Form One, missed sitting for the SPM as he was playing at a badminton tournament in Japan.
“I want to focus on my studies now,” he said.
MCA Vocational Education Development Committee chairman Tan Sri Dr Fong Chan Onn said earlier that wedding planning, solar and LED illumination and aquaculture are the new courses introduced.
Proud moment: Malaysia-Taiwan Skills Programme participant Lin Pazhe (left) being congratulated by Fong before a briefing at Wisma MCA yesterday. Looking on is Heng (right).
He reminded recipients of the sponsorship by the Taiwan Education Ministry to value the opportunity to study in the country.
“You must always keep in mind that you represent Malaysia while abroad,” he said.
Party vice-president Senator Gan Ping Sieu said MCA's proposed vocational training institute is expected to take off this year.
“We are in the midst of looking for a suitable location and will apply for funding from the Government,” he said.
Also present were MCA Young Professionals Bureau chairman and Deputy Agriculture and Agro-based Industries Minister Datuk Chua Tee Yong and Wanita MCA vice-chairman and Deputy Women, Family and

asalamualaikum warahmatullah, hari ini saya nak kongsi sedikit berita yg 'agak' membanggakan utk keluarga Hi.Yusof Ali(atuk saya) cuba baca artikel yg saya copy dari the star online tu. Ellyna Danial Faizal Chee.. ahh, untungnya dia dapat tawaran sambung belajar kat Taiwan. siap masuk the star lagi. terharu...walaupun result spm belum keluar, dia dah dapat tawaran dari parti politik MCA utk sambung belajar kat taiwan. seronoknyaa...makteh mesti bangga dgn dia. atuk pun bangga dgn lina. tak sangka dia boleh dapat tawaran keemasan mcm tu kan? bukan dia sorang je yg dapat tawaran tu. ade lagi 313 pelajar yg lain dapat tawaran. Lina sebenarnya sepupu tiri saya. atuk kahwin dua....ibu Lina atau Pn.Fauziah Yusof Ali kakak tiri ibu saya. alah...yg pakai baju pink pakai tudung sebelah lina tulaa.

hmm...apa yg anda rasa? tercabar? dengki? jgn risau...saya juga merasai perasaan yg sama macam anda yg baca post ini. mungkin ada lebih hebat dari saya. berita nie entah keluar bila. tapi semalam saya baru tahu.. saya rasa diri ini tak sehebat mcm orang lain. semalam masa solat maghrib pun tak khusyuk. sampai menitiskan air mata.. :'( entah lah air mata gembira atau sedih. kalau diberikan peluang, saya nak sambung belajar ke Universiti Al-Azhar... nak kumpul ilmu dunia akhirat. iman pun teguh je belajar di negara islam kan? kalau kat negara2 europe iman mesti kuat. supaya tak terjebak dgn cara hidup orang sana.. tapi ini semua hanya perancangan je. insyaallah, kalau tak dapat masuk ke Universiti Al-Azhar, kat UIA pun ok kan? asalkan satu hari nnti saya seorang graduan dari Universiti terbaik. insyaallah.. tapi yang paling utama sekali saya nak ibu dgn ayah saya bangga dgn saya. saya taknak kecewakan harapan mereka lagi. Aminn... :)
